Surface Preparation:
Ensure basecoat is properly cured and clean. If basecoat has been sitting longer than 24 hours, lightly scuff with 600-800 grit sandpaper to improve adhesion.
Wipe down with a tack cloth to remove all dust and debris.
Mask off surrounding areas to prevent overspray.
Mixing:
Pour 4 parts clear coat into a clean mixing cup.
Add 1 part fast hardener and stir thoroughly for 2-3 minutes to ensure complete mixing.
Allow mixed material to sit for 5-10 minutes before spraying (pot life approximately 4-6 hours depending on temperature).
Do not mix more than needed to avoid waste.
Application:
Use a HVLP spray gun with a 1.3-1.4mm tip. Apply at 50-65 PSI.
Apply 2-3 medium, wet coats for optimal gloss and protection. Space coats 5-15 minutes apart (faster with warm temps, longer with cool temps).
Avoid heavy, soaking coats – use smooth, even passes to prevent runs and sags.
Ideal temperature: 70-80°F (21-27°C) with 40-60% humidity.
Dry Time: Tack-free in 30-45 minutes; hard-dry in 2-4 hours. Full cure in 24-48 hours before aggressive handling or polishing.
Buffing & Finishing:
After full cure, wet-sand with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper if needed for ultra-smooth finish.
Buff and polish for maximum gloss and protection.
Cleanup & Safety:
Clean tools immediately with lacquer thinner or acetone.
