Surface Preparation:
Clean the surface thoroughly with soap and water, then degrease using a wax and grease remover.
Sand the area with 400-600 grit sandpaper for smooth adhesion. For bare metal, apply a primer first (e.g., epoxy or self-etching primer).
Mask off surrounding areas to prevent overspray.
Mixing:
Shake or stir the binder well before use.
Thin with a compatible urethane reducer (recommend 4:1 ratio – 4 parts binder to 1 part reducer) for spray application. Adjust based on your equipment and conditions (warmer temps may need more reducer). Do not over-thin to avoid runs.
Application:
Use a HVLP spray gun with a 1.3-1.4mm tip for optimal results. Apply at 50-60 PSI.
Apply 2-3 light, even coats, allowing 5-10 minutes flash time between coats. Avoid heavy coats to prevent sagging.
Ideal temperature: 70-80°F (21-27°C) with low humidity.
Dry time: Tack-free in 15-30 minutes; ready for colorcoat in 30-60 minutes. Do not exceed 24 hours before topcoating, or scuff and reapply.
Topcoating:
Apply compatible colorcoat over the binder, then finish with a 2K clear coat (e.g., urethane clear) for protection and shine. Follow all topcoat instructions for mixing and application.
Allow full cure (up to 24-48 hours) before polishing or exposing to elements.
Cleanup & Safety:
Clean tools immediately with lacquer thinner or acetone.
