Size: 1 Gallon (128 fl oz) clearcoat base
Coverage: Approximately 200-300 sq ft per gallon, depending on application method and number of coats
Mix Ratio: Typically 2:1 (2 parts clearcoat to 1 part hardener by volume); verify ratio on product label
VOC Status: Compliant with EPA and most regional standards
Pot Life: Once mixed, usable for approximately 4-6 hours (varies with temperature)
Shelf Life: Up to 2 years unopened when stored in a cool, dry place
Spray Equipment: HVLP or conventional spray gun with 1.4mm tip recommended; 50-65 PSI
Application Temperature: 70-80°F (21-27°C) with 40-60% relative humidity for optimal results
Application Instructions:
Surface Preparation:
Ensure basecoat is fully cured and tack-free. If basecoat was applied more than 24 hours prior, lightly scuff with 600-grit sandpaper.
Wipe down with a tack cloth to remove all dust and debris.
Mask off adjacent areas to prevent overspray.
Mixing:
Stir clearcoat base thoroughly but gently to avoid introducing excessive air bubbles.
Mix clearcoat and hardener at the recommended ratio (typically 2:1). Stir well for 2-3 minutes until completely uniform.
Allow mixed material to settle for 5-10 minutes before straining through a fine mesh filter into your spray cup.
Pot life begins immediately after mixing – do not prepare more than you'll use in one session.
Application:
Use an HVLP spray gun with a 1.4mm tip at 50-65 PSI for best results.
Apply 2-3 light, even coats with 5-10 minutes flash time between coats. Do not apply heavy coats to avoid runs, sags, or cratering.
Ideal conditions: 70-80°F, 40-60% humidity. Avoid application in high heat, humidity, or direct sunlight.
Maintain consistent distance and overlap for uniform coverage.
Drying & Curing:
Tack-free: 30-45 minutes
Handle time: 4-8 hours (avoid touching)
Wet sand time: 8-12 hours
Full cure: 24-48 hours before polishing, buffing, or exposure to water and elements
Post-Application:
Wet sand with 1000-1500 grit sandpaper and water to remove dust, orange peel, or imperfections.
Compound and polish to achieve desired gloss and depth.
Apply wax or protective sealant after full cure for long-term protection.
Cleanup & Safety:
Clean all tools immediately with lacquer thinner or acetone before material dries.
Warnings: Highly flammable – keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame. Harmful if inhaled or ingested. Use only in well-ventilated areas or with an approved respirator. Use nitrile gloves and eye protection during application. Dispose of waste and empty containers per local hazardous waste regulations. Not for household use. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
